Memento Mori

In the Memento Mori series, it focuses on self-portraits and still-lifes. I am interested in mortality. As I grow older, I am confronted with my personal fear of dying. Like a nagging weight on the body and mind, this is how I carry the burden around with me. Embracing it, confronting it, hiding it from it and turning one's back pulls me into the acceptance of my fate.

I choose to work with oils, a wet medium that allows me to slow down and think about space and lighting. This process invites my viewers into my personal and state of mind. I am sure we all relate to mortality and this depression for more time to love when time seems so fleeting.
