Bio
Kerra Taylor (b. 1985) received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting and a Minor in Art History in 2012 from Missouri State University. She received a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2016. She has exhibited her work throughout the Midwest and Internationally. Her work has been featured in group shows in China and in Poland.
Her work has been featured in numerous publications such as New American Paintings #117 Midwest and #129 MFA Annual editions. This is a prestigious competition as thousands of artists apply and only forty are selected for the magazine. The jurors were Elisabeth Sherman, Assistant Curator and The Whitney Museum and Anna Stothart, Assistant Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston.
Kerra also exhibited in other major galleries and museums at Manifest Gallery for Self and the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art for Salon des Refusés and Painting the Figure Now.
She was included in The Chronicles of a Future Foretold show at 33 Contemporary Gallery in Chicago. Not only did science fiction writer Dr. Samuel Peralta juror the show, but he launched The Peregrine Collection; a volume of his work and PoetsArtists art magazines and exhibition catalogs to the moon in the Lunar Codes capsule. The Chronicles of a Future Foretold art catalog was included in the launch.
She participated in No Dead Artists at Jonathan Showman Gallery in New Orleans. Five hundred artists applied but only fourteen were accepted. She won their solo show in 2019. Collector/art advocate/actress C.C.H. Pounder was the juror.
Her work is in many private collections. Two of her paintings are in the 21 C Museum Hotels collection. She currently teaches as an Instructor at Missouri State University in the Art and Design Department.
