Decrepit Houses
I have always been drawn to old abandoned houses for their detail and uniqueness. I am attracted to the evidential decay such as falling wood, caved-in roofs, and peeling paint. I feel these houses are significant because they personify the human condition. People are born into this world, they age and eventually die. Houses too, are freshly built and with time they age, collapse, and then cease to exist. These houses have become weak structures and one cannot help but to sense the gravitational pull of them. My paintings are a reflection of my own personal fear of dying and they express the natural cycle of birth and then death. One cannot exist without the other. Immortality does not exist and these houses invite you to face reality of your own eventual departure. I see the paintings as the soul and the sculptures as empty vessels.
